Snowfox Discovery Expands Iowa Natural Hydrogen Portfolio With 4,000 Acres in Carroll County
Snowfox Discovery has secured access to an additional 4,000 acres of exploration leases in Carroll County, Iowa, expanding its natural hydrogen exploration portfolio in the United States and strengthening its position within the Mid-Continental Rift geological system.
Announced on November 3, 2026, the acquisition represents Snowfox's second land position in Iowa, following its initial entry into Audubon County earlier in the year.
The company expects its exploration programme to progress toward a potential drilling campaign in late 2028 or 2029, providing a multi-year timeframe for geological assessment before direct subsurface testing.
The new acreage is located in a region that Snowfox considers particularly prospective for natural hydrogen generation and accumulation.
According to the company, its selection of Carroll County reflects a systematic exploration strategy combining geophysical investigations, geochemical analysis and proprietary geological modelling.
The additional land access expands Snowfox's opportunity to evaluate geological targets across two neighbouring Iowa counties.
Carroll County lies within the broader Mid-Continental Rift region, a geological system that has attracted growing interest from natural hydrogen exploration companies.
The Mid-Continental Rift is an ancient geological structure extending through parts of central North America. It developed during a major episode of crustal extension and volcanic activity approximately 1.1 billion years ago.
The system contains extensive igneous rock formations, deep geological structures and associated fault networks.
These characteristics can be relevant to natural hydrogen exploration because certain iron-bearing minerals may generate hydrogen through reactions with water under suitable geological conditions.
The presence of deep faults and fractures may also influence fluid circulation and provide pathways through which hydrogen can migrate.

CARROLL, Iowa - 3rd November, 2026
Snowfox Discovery, a pioneer in natural hydrogen exploration, today announces it has successfully accessed an additional 4,000 acres of exploration leases in Carroll County, Iowa. We expect our exploration work programme to result in a drilling campaign in late 2028/2029.
This is Snowfox’s second US land position in Iowa and represents another step towards a global portfolio of natural hydrogen opportunities.
Carroll County is also located in what we consider to be the most prospective region of the Mid-Continental Rift system and is complementary to Snowfox’s first position in Audubon County announced earlier in 2026. Our selection of this specific area is a result of Snowfox’s exploration approach, which combines geophysics, geochemistry and proprietary geological modelling.
"We are extremely grateful to the leaseholders and people of Carroll, as Snowfox looks to deepen its commitment to Iowa as we expand our initial land access work. Very much looking forward to working in partnership as we explore for natural hydrogen."

About Snowfox Discovery:
Snowfox Discovery is a natural hydrogen exploration company based on sector-defining technology. Our purpose is to enable natural hydrogen to accelerate and secure the energy transition. Unlike green or blue hydrogen, which require significant energy or carbon-capture infrastructure to produce, natural hydrogen is generated by ongoing geological processes within the Earth’s crust, offering the potential for a primary energy source with a near-zero carbon footprint and substantially lower production costs.
Snowfox comprises leading geoscientists, explorers, and deep-tech innovators and is backed by world-leading investors who aim to unlock the potential of natural hydrogen for a net zero future.
