Mantle8 Validates Natural Hydrogen Discovery in Pyrenees with 2,500 ppm Readings, Confirms Predictive Tech Accuracy
French natural hydrogen explorer Mantle8 has announced a significant breakthrough at its Comminges prospect in the Pyrenees, reporting soil-gas readings of 2,500 ppm—over seven times the accepted prospectivity threshold. The results validate Mantle8’s proprietary predictive exploration technology, which uniquely maps complete hydrogen systems from source rock to reservoir.
This milestone follows the company securing exclusive exploration rights at Comminges ahead of a full research permit (PER) expected by end-2025. Mantle8 plans to conduct low-impact imaging of the subsurface hydrogen system to accelerate site selection and cut exploration costs.
Founder and CEO Emmanuel Masini called the block “an ideal pilot zone” and reaffirmed Mantle8’s ambition to deliver $0.80/kg hydrogen by 2030.
