HyTerra Strengthens Board as It Targets Growth Beyond Its U.S. Natural Hydrogen Portfolio
HyTerra has reshaped its Board and leadership team as the natural hydrogen developer looks to advance its U.S. strategy while pursuing a broader pipeline of growth opportunities internationally.
The company has appointed John Langoulant AO as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Spencer Davey as a Fortescue-appointed Non-Executive Director, adding experience across governance, infrastructure, energy, corporate development and transactions.
The appointments follow a review of HyTerra’s Board composition and come as the company increasingly turns its attention toward growth beyond its existing project portfolio.
Langoulant brings extensive senior leadership experience across government, infrastructure and the private sector.
His previous positions include Western Australia’s Agent General for the United Kingdom and Europe, Under Treasurer of Western Australia and CEO roles at Australian Capital Equity, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia and Mitsubishi Corporation’s Oakajee Port and Rail project.
He has also chaired organisations including the Government Employees Superannuation Board, Power and Water Corporation, Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre and the Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline.
Langoulant currently serves as a Director of Australian Gas Infrastructure Group and Western Australian Chair of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce, giving HyTerra additional experience across infrastructure, government and major energy assets.
Davey’s appointment further strengthens HyTerra’s connection with its major shareholder and strategic partner, Fortescue.
He currently serves as Fortescue’s Head of Corporate Development and Project Origination for Energy and previously held the position of Global Head of Business Development.
Davey brings more than 20 years of international energy and corporate-development experience, including a previous role as CFO of London-listed Ascent Resources and board-level involvement with energy and climate-technology companies Zhero and Mission Zero Technologies.
Importantly, Davey becomes the second Fortescue representative on HyTerra’s Board, joining Christine Nicolau and further aligning the company with its major shareholder.
There is also a significant change on the executive side.
Benjamin Mee has stepped down from the Board and will move into a dedicated executive position focused on advancing HyTerra’s growth initiatives across a pipeline of opportunities in the United States and internationally.
Rather than representing a departure from the company, the move concentrates Mee’s role on identifying, progressing and executing new growth opportunities.
CEO Riley Kemp said growth is a central pillar of HyTerra’s strategic plan, with the leadership changes intended to give the company additional governance and transaction capability while allowing Mee to focus directly on building its opportunity pipeline.
