Thor Energy Secures Three Strategic Gas Storage Exploration Licences in South Australia

Thor Energy plc (LON:THR, ASX: THR, OTCQB: THORF) has announced that its subsidiary, Go Exploration Pty Ltd, has formally accepted the South Australian Government’s offer of three Gas Storage Exploration Licences—GSEL 804, 805, and 806. These licences cover more than 6,300 km² and are located adjacent to Adelaide, placing them in a prime region for future underground gas storage infrastructure.

Granted under the Energy Resources Act 2000 (SA), the licences give Thor the exclusive right to explore subsurface areas for the development of underground gas storage solutions. The initial term runs through 1 July 2025, with the Company intending to exercise its right to extend the licences for a further five years, supporting long-term assessment and development.

This milestone strengthens Thor Energy’s broader strategy in South Australia, where it is already active in natural hydrogen exploration. The new licences significantly expand its energy portfolio in a jurisdiction that is increasingly central to Australia's energy transition plans.

Managing Director Andrew Hume emphasized the importance of the move in supporting both energy security and the decarbonization agenda, noting the Company’s commitment to progressing exploration programs in collaboration with government and local stakeholders.
