Prominence Energy Advances Gawler Hydrogen Project in South Australia, Strengthening Technical Team and Global Hydrogen Engagement

Prominence Energy Ltd (ASX: PRM) has reported major progress at its Gawler Hydrogen Project (PEL 803) in South Australia, following a period of intensive geological and geophysical evaluation that has significantly de-risked exploration and confirmed multiple high-grade natural hydrogen targets.

Detailed desktop work has successfully delineated reservoir–seal pairs and identified key hydrogen source rocks, including the Hiltaba Granite, known for its radiolytic hydrogen generation potential, and biotite-rich rocks associated with ferrolysis processes. These findings establish PEL 803 as a strategic natural hydrogen asset within South Australia’s emerging clean energy corridor.

Prominence is now advancing planning for a high-impact integrated soil-gas and groundwater geochemical survey, designed to verify near-surface hydrogen and helium anomalies. Field mobilisation is targeted for early 2026, subject to final regulatory approvals, setting the stage for the project’s first on-ground exploration program.

We are very pleased with the momentum building across the Gawler Hydrogen Project as we move toward completion of the transaction and final regulatory approvals,” said Dr Krista Davies, COO of Prominence Energy. “The technical work to date reinforces the project’s strong potential and strategic importance within South Australia’s hydrogen corridor.

At the corporate level, Prominence has been selected as one of only four Western Australian companies to join the Australian Clean Hydrogen Delegation to H2MEET Korea 2025 — Asia’s largest hydrogen and clean technology exhibition. Participation will provide direct access to global hydrogen technology and investment networks, further integrating PRM into the international clean energy ecosystem.

The company also announced the appointment of Harvey Keon as Technical Advisor, a geologist with prior experience at 2H Resources (Buru Energy subsidiary), where he executed advanced soil-gas sampling programs and micro-GC hydrogen analysis. His expertise strengthens PRM’s technical capability in both natural hydrogen and helium systems.
