Mantle8 and Viridien Partner to Accelerate Natural Hydrogen Exploration Across EMEA
French geoscience company Mantle8 has entered a strategic partnership with Viridien, a global technology and Earth data provider, to accelerate natural hydrogen exploration across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). As part of the deal, Viridien has also made a strategic investment in Mantle8.
The partnership grants Mantle8 access to GeoVerse, Viridien’s industry-leading geological database, enabling rapid prospect generation and refined targeting of hydrogen systems across the region. In addition, Mantle8 will deploy Sercel’s WiNG DFU-3C passive seismic sensors — part of Viridien’s sensing and monitoring business — to improve subsurface imaging of hydrogen-generating systems, reducing exploration risk.
Mantle8 CEO Emmanuel Masini highlighted the potential of Europe’s natural hydrogen resources, noting that access to Viridien’s subsurface data and sensors will significantly accelerate the path from prospecting to drilling. Viridien EVP Chris Page emphasized the role of advanced geoscience and sensing technology in supporting the global energy transition.
The announcement builds on Mantle8’s recent momentum. Earlier this year, the company raised €3.4 million in seed funding from Kiko Ventures and Breakthrough Energy Europe, and confirmed some of the highest recorded hydrogen concentrations at its Comminges prospect in the French Pyrenees. Full technical results from its latest surveys are expected later in September.
