HyTerra Signs Strategic MoU to Evaluate Natural Hydrogen Opportunities in Oman

HyTerra Limited has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ARA Natural Resources LLC to jointly evaluate geologic (natural) hydrogen opportunities in Oman

The agreement establishes an 18-month exclusive collaboration, combining HyTerra’s technical expertise in natural hydrogen exploration with ARA’s in-country operational and subsurface capabilities.

The partnership is centered on the Semail Ophiolite, one of the world’s most prospective geological settings for natural hydrogen. This formation consists of ultramafic mantle rocks that generate hydrogen through serpentinization reactions, a process already observed at surface where hydrogen bubbles emerge from natural springs.

Oman is increasingly positioning itself as a key hub for low-carbon hydrogen, supported by strong subsurface datasets from decades of hydrocarbon exploration and a growing regulatory and commercial framework.

Under the MoU, both companies will:

  • Evaluate geological and geophysical datasets across Oman
  • Assess regulatory and commercial pathways
  • Engage with government and industry stakeholders
  • Identify potential development concepts and commercialization routes

The collaboration is part of HyTerra’s broader global strategy to secure early-mover positions in high-potential hydrogen jurisdictions, applying its proprietary screening methodology to identify scalable opportunities.

Importantly, the agreement represents an evaluation framework rather than a binding development commitment, with further agreements contingent on identifying viable opportunities.
