HyTerra Drills Second Well in Kansas Hydrogen Program, Adds Third Based on Positive Indicators
HyTerra Ltd (ASX: HYT) has reached a new milestone in its hydrogen exploration campaign at the Nemaha Project in Kansas. The company has successfully completed drilling its second well, Blythe 13-20, which was delivered on time, safely, and under budget. Encouragingly, preliminary signs of both hydrogen and helium were observed during drilling, prompting the company to accelerate plans for a third well, McCoy 1, now mobilized.
This follows the earlier Sue Duroche 3 well, which confirmed hydrogen presence in the same region. The trio of wells forms part of HyTerra’s multi-well campaign, fully funded under its 100% earn-in agreement with Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) — a major backer of clean hydrogen technologies.
HyTerra remains the only publicly listed company currently operating an active natural hydrogen drilling program, giving it a strategic advantage in this rapidly emerging segment of the energy industry.
Initial gas shows in the Blythe 13-20 well will now be subjected to laboratory analysis and technical evaluation, including log interpretation and sample analysis. The company has stated it will release further results as they become available.
This development strengthens Kansas’ position as a potential natural hydrogen hub in North America and reinforces HyTerra’s leadership as it works to validate the commercial viability of geologic hydrogen.
