Breaking: HyTerra to Begin Drilling Nemaha Wells in April 2025

HyTerra Limited (ASX: HYT) has confirmed it will begin drilling operations in mid-April 2025 at its Nemaha Project in Kansas, USA. Two wells: Sue Duroche 3 and Blythe 13-20, have been selected for back-to-back drilling near sites with historic hydrogen and helium occurrences.

The program forms part of HyTerra’s 12-month exploration strategy through its U.S. subsidiary, HYT Operating LLC, aimed at evaluating and unlocking natural hydrogen resources in the region. The first well, Sue Duroche 3, lies just 200 meters from a 2009 well that recorded up to 92% hydrogen concentrations.

In parallel, a large-scale geophysical program is underway, including a completed aerial gravity and magnetic survey over 10,000 line-kilometers, and a seismic acquisition campaign set to begin this April.

HyTerra’s land position has also grown to over 72,500 acres due to an aggressive Q1 infill leasing campaign, giving it a strategic advantage in targeting high-priority prospects. The combined drilling and geophysics will guide future well locations and growth opportunities throughout 2025.

ASX RELEASE

Nemaha Exploration Wells Selected for April Drilling

  • Drilling for natural hydrogen and helium is on track to start in mid-April 2025
  • Sue Duroche 3 and Blythe 13-20 will be drilled back-to-back near wells with historical occurrences of hydrogen and helium
  • Geophysical program is also on track, with the aerial survey recently completed and the seismic acquisition survey to commence in April
  • Infill leasing for contiguous acreage continues with over 72,500 acres now secured

HyTerra Limited (ASX: HYT) has two firm wells in the drilling sequence expected to start in mid-April 2025 at the Nemaha Project in Kansas, USA. This marks the first steps for the company in executing a comprehensive 12-month exploration program designed to unlock the potential of natural (white) hydrogen in Kansas through its 100% owned subsidiary, HYT Operating LLC.

HyTerra Executive Director, Benjamin Mee, stated:

"We are looking forward to starting the drilling campaign shortly and executing the geophysical programs simultaneously. Early, integrated results plus contiguous acreage give a competitive edge and lead to faster ranking of the next prospects to drill. This strategy also supports the screening of new growth opportunities. We remain focused on safe, cost-effective delivery of value to our shareholders. It’s shaping up to be a very exciting and busy year ahead."

Exploration Stage I Update

The Stage I program will begin with two back-to-back wells: Sue Duroche 3 and Blythe 13-20, located near historic hydrogen and helium finds. A third well may also be drilled. Murfin Drilling Company is finalizing rig testing ahead of mobilization to the Sue Duroche 3 site.

  • Sue Duroche 3 is about 200 meters from the 2009 Sue Duroche-2 well, which showed up to 92% hydrogen and 3% helium.
  • Blythe 13-20 is roughly 1,400 meters from the 1982 Scott-1 well, which showed up to 56% hydrogen. This well will be drilled deeper than its historic counterpart.

HyTerra’s 2023 aerial gravity and magnetic survey covering 10,000 line-km is now being processed. A seismic survey is set to begin April 2025, led by Paragon Geophysical Services Inc.

Infill Leasing Progress

HyTerra increased its lease acreage from 9,607 to over 72,500 acres, thanks to an aggressive Q1 2025 infill leasing campaign. This contiguous land base strengthens its competitive position for future activities in high-priority zones.
